Rudyard Kipling wrote Captains Courageous in the late 1800’s. It is a story about a very pampered young man who falls off an ocean liner and is rescued by the fishing vessel We’re Here of Beverly, Massachusetts. He remains on the boat for the fishing season. Although initially reluctant, he learns to appreciate hard work, camaraderie, risk taking and ingenuity as the We’re Here fishes the Grand Banks.
Risk taking, ingenuity and hard work: the basis of the economy.
